Bahamian Coral Reef Survey
In June 2009, a group from Skyline went to the island of San Salvador in the Bahamas to participate in a coral reef survey. During the expedition, we transect and quadrant sampled for various coral species. We also estimated the proportion of our sample sites that were covered with algae, sand or other marine species. In our free time, we explored the beaches, cleaned plastic off the beach and went spelunking. Read about our adventures in the Issaquah Press or in the Earthwatch Newsletter.
"As I hear stories of kids heading out on "senior trips" to Hawaii for partying and wild times....I am so pleased that my daughter would so much rather be off with her two favorite teachers on a research trip." Sarah S (parent, Bahamas 2009) |
