Science News

As an "Above and Beyond" activity, you can read and respond to a current events science news story.  Each science news submission is worth five Above and Beyond class work points.  You may submit up to two articles per week with a maximum of 100 points per semester.  News articles are due via this online form by Sunday evenings at 10:00.  News extra credit must be from an article that was published within the seven day period prior to the day the article was turned in.  Only articles from reputable science news sources will be permitted. 

Here are the questions you are requested to answer via the form linked above:
  • Write a summary of this article. Your summary must be at least four complete sentences IN YOUR OWN WORDS. Do not use direct quotes from the article.
  • How did scientists obtain the evidence on which this article is based? What steps did they follow, what types of tools did the use, and what type of data did they collect?
  • Do some more thinking about this article. Write at least one “on my own” question that you would like to ask the author or the scientists involved.
